When & where is the Shrimp Festival?
The Galveston Island Shrimp Festival will take place September 27-29, 2013 and will be held throughout the Historic Strand District. (Strand, 23rd Street)
Do I have to buy a ticket to go to the festival?
The festival is free to the public. You only need a ticket to sample Gumbo. Advanced tickets can be purchased online must be brought to the Information Booth at 23rd & Strand in Saengerfest Park to redeem your gumbo tasting cup, spoon and wristband. Gumbo Tasting Cups can be purchased day of too. Buy Tickets Now!
How do I sample gumbo?
Once you have redeemed your gumbo tasting cup you are free to sample gumbo from any of the Cook Teams along Strand and 23rd Street. Don’t forget to wear your wristband or they won’t serve you!
What other events happen during The Shrimp Festival?

Where can I park?
The City of Galveston has street parking with paid meters and there is a parking lot located at Harborside and 25th Street.
Is this a family friendly event?
Yes! Families are encouraged to bring the kids. Between the live music, gumbo cooking, Kids parade, and kids area there is sure to be something for everyone!
Who is the beneficiary of the 2013 Galveston Island Shrimp Festival?
Both the Ronald McDonald House of Galveston and the Justin Hughes Foundation are the beneficiaries of Shrimp Festival. A portion of the proceeds will go to both organizations.
